This is the perfect chance to celebrate the institution's longevity, recognise the profession of civil engineering and most importantly, you and the thousands of members like you who make the institution what it is.
We want to use this landmark as an opportunity to inform the general public that civil engineers transform their lives directly, safeguard the future of people's families and at the same time to encourage the next generation into the profession.
To do that, we need your help. This is why we have designed a series of activities that will run throughout 2018 aimed at informing the general public about civil engineering.
These activities are:
- Café 200 – A programme of engineering talks to existing groups over coffee or a drink to widen the public's understanding.
- Explore Engineering – A series of tours and trails, illustrating to the general public the positive impact of civil engineering on society in their local area.
- People's Choice Awards – Designed to engage the public with ground-breaking infrastructure projects, these awards will open up to international entries for the first time for ICE 200
- Pitch 200 – A competition to find the person who can best demonstrate a civil engineering-related concept or project in a 200-second pitch. Further details on Pitch 200 are coming soon.
For them to be a success and for us to truly help the public understand how civil engineering transforms their lives, we need help from the experts – you.
If you would like to take part in any of the above activities and enthuse people about your profession then we would love to hear from you. If you have a passion for your profession or project, you may be perfect for Café 200. If you have an in-depth knowledge of the infrastructure in your area, you may consider guiding people on Explore Engineering or, if you want to compete on the most interesting way to share an engineering topic, then Pitch 200 is for you.
ICE 200 is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the significant impact your profession makes on the world and the members are the best people to do that.
If you would like to get involved with any of these activities, please get in touch with your regional team and register your interest.
